BdbServer++: A User Driven Data Location and Retrieval Tool

The adoption of Grid technology has the potential to greatly aid the BaBar experiment. BdbServer was originally designed to extract copies of data from the Objectivity/DB database at SLAC and IN2P3. With data now stored in multiple locations in a variety of data formats, we are enhancing this tool. This will enable users to extract selected deep copies of event collections and ship them to the requested site using the facilities offered by the existing Grid infrastructure. By building on the work done by various groups in BaBar, and the European DataGrid, we have successfully expanded the capabilities of the BdbServer software. This should provide a framework for future work in data distribution.Comment: Paper based on the poster from the 2003 Computing in High Energy and Nuclear Physics (CHEP03), La Jolla, Ca, USA, March 2003, 4 pages, LaTeX, 0 figures. Behaviour of the potentials due to strangeness degree of freedom in ΛΛ6_{\Lambda\Lambda}^6He hypernucleus

Fully correlated study of ΛΛ6_{\Lambda\Lambda} ^6He hypernucleus has been performed with two- and three- baryon potentials. For the S=-2 sector, various simulations of Nijmegen ΛΛ\Lambda\Lambda potential models have been used. We investigate the role of every strength of the strange sector potentials on the energy breakdown and present a crystal clear understanding of their interplay. Consistency between Λ5_\Lambda ^5He and ΛΛ6_{\Lambda\Lambda}^6He depends on the ΛN\Lambda N space-exchange strength only. Investigation limits the strength of simulated Nijmegen ΛΛ\Lambda\Lambda potential models. The study is a step forward to determine all the strengths, to reslove A=5 anomaly and to search for ΛΛ4_{\Lambda\Lambda}^4H in an authentic way.Comment: 4 pages, 1 figur

Quantization in Control Systems and Forward Error Analysis of Iterative Numerical Algorithms

    Get PDF
The use of control theory to study iterative algorithms, which can be considered as dynamical systems, opens many opportunities to find new tools for analysis of algorithms. In this paper we show that results from the study of quantization effects in control systems can be used to find systematic ways for forward error analysis of iterative algorithms. The proposed schemes are applied to the classical iterative methods for solving a system of linear equations. The obtained bounds are compared with bounds given in the numerical analysis literature

Genetic and Phenotypic Parameters of Body Weight in Ettawa Grade Goats

The aim of this study was to estimate genetic and phenotypic parameters of growth traits consisting of birth weight (BW), weaning weight (WW), 6 mo body weight (6WM), 12 mo body weight (12WM), and 18 mo body weight (18WM) of Ettawa Grade goats. The number of goat used to determine growth traits of BW, WW, 6WM, 12WM, and 18WM were 316; 316; 259; 259 and 165 heads, respectively. Data were analyzed using General Linear Model (GLM) to identify non-genetic effect. Estimation of genetic and phenotypic parameters including heritability, repeatability, genetic and phenotypic correlation were calculated using Restricted Maximum Likelihood and GLM. Genetic trends were calculated using the regression of mean breeding values on birth year. The results showed that parity and type of birth had significant (P<0.05) influence on all growth traits. Estimated heritability of birth, weaning, 6WM, 12WM, and 18WM were 0.54±0.12; 0.35±0.07; 0.37±0.09; 0.68±0.16 and 0.63±0.19, respectively. Estimated repeatability of WW, 6WM, 12WM and 18WM, WW, 6WM, 12WM and 18WM were 0.98±0.01; 0.97±0.01; 0.94±0.03; 0.71±0.12 and 0.91±0.04, respectively. The genetic trends for traits of BW and 18MW were decreased fluctuatively. However, the WW, 6MW, 12MW were increased fluctuatively. The high and positive genetic correlations between all growth traits and 12WM traits in this study indicated that selection for high 12WM will improve genetic merit in Ettawa Grade goats
